Christine's Dress Shop

Run by Christine Patterson, this dress shop serves the needs of all the women in town. She keeps two full-time women in the shop for sewing, bedding, and simple alterations. In addition, she has worked with several other women for the more complicated jeweled settings, pearls, and difficult stitching. For the most demanding embroidery jobs she works closely with Miss Lin Wong, who is a miracle worker with needle and thread.

While the store is called a “Dress Shop”, Christine has worked with patrons staying at the Valley Hotel and Silver Dollar Saloon on necessary repairs. Since many men feel out of place in a dress shop, Christine typically carries her bag to their room to perform the necessary work. Because the building is barely big enough to do a proper fitting and still house the women she employs to do alterations, most of the clothes finished without consignment are displayed at Hoskin General Store, which she owns as well.
