Trent Stockyards

Just outside the western edge of the town are the stockyards. While they can butcher some cattle — it mostly serves to load the cattle unto the train for the trip to Kansas City. Run by Larry Trent, his family has been here as long as the town has been here. Because of this he has a good long relationship with all of the ranchers and even during the Range Wars his stockyard was an enforced “neutral area”.

The cattle pen can hold several hundred head of cattle, in addition there is a grass area just a few minutes ride to the west where they can be ranged for a short period of time. There is a fenced off pen for wild horse and a large stable and hitching post for the cowboy's mounts.

Anyone that cannot afford to get a room in town is welcome to sleep by the well just south of the stockyard or with their cattle to the west. There are usually several boys running around to take care of things and fetch food and water for the animals in the pens.

The stockyard is actually owned by the town and charges the ranchers per head of cattle they keep in the pens or grazing in the fields.
